Distributed Algorithms

Prerequisites: CMSC 27100 or consent of instructor.

Catalog Description: This course studies algorithmic problems in distributed systems. Topics include models of distributed systems, problems of contention and cooperation among processes, distributed consensus and agreement, and leader election and clock synchronizatoin. Also discussed are static and dynamic algorithms, fault tolerance, and uses of randomization.
