Catalog Description: The objective of this course is to provide a basic understanding of Information Technology security. It will address technology in an in-depth manner for both platform and network protection. This course will provide an overview of the objectives of security and a framework for understanding elements which should be in place for an IT environment to achieve an adequate security level. Students will study Linux security mechanisms as a means of understanding platform security. Following gaining an understanding of platform security, the course will focus on encryption mechanisms, authentication mechanisms and securing network protocols. Firewalls and other means of security corporate networks will be studied. Course material will be presented in a framework of understanding business risks and how to address them
