Configure Mutt for IMAP

To connect to a secure IMAP server, mutt must have been compiled with both IMAP and SSL support. The following entries to must be added to ${HOME}/.muttrc
  • Let mutt know where to save SSL certificates
    • set certificate_file=~/.mutt_certs

  • Set the path to your IMAP inbox
    • set spoolfile=imaps://laime.cs.uchicago.edu/INBOX

  • Optionally add your additional mailboxes
    • set folder=imaps://laime.cs.uchicago.edu/
Our IMAP enabled mutt is located at:
/usr/bin/mutt
