Remotely Accessing your CS Account
IMPORTANT NOTE: For harper users who request a CS account, the CS username will be the same as the harper username, and, until the user makes any changes, the passwords will be the same as well. See "Changing Your Password" below for details.
- Obtain an ssh client program (please visit our ssh page for details), and use it to connect to one of our machines.
- If you can't get access to an ssh client program, use harper's ssh Java Applet, then once you have logged on, use the ssh command to connect to one of our machines (use the selection mechanism listed above).

One of the first things you should do when you start using your CS account is to change your password to something other than your harper password. You can do this with the passwd command, which is self-explanatory once invoked.
