Remotely Accessing your CS Account

IMPORTANT NOTE: New CS accounts use the CNETid as the username, and, until you make any changes, the passwords will be the same as well.

  • Obtain an ssh client program, and use it to connect to one of our machines.
  • One of the first things you should do when you start using your CS account is to change your password to something other than your CNET password. You can do this with the passwd command, which is self-explanatory once invoked.
