Want to work with a small, dynamic development team to engineer breakthroughs in virtual learning?
We’re a fast-growing virtual learning company with a great loft office in the Ravenswood corridor (just off of the Brown Line) and we are looking for a motivated, reliable systems engineer who excels at creative problem solving.
The work is part time (16-24 hours per week with a potential for more) and on-site in our office. We’re looking for someone who can start immediately and take off running.

As a Systems Engineer, you will configure and manage our physical and virtual internal, development and production Linux Apache servers hosted both in-office and on Amazon EC2, our Amazon S3 storage repositories, and our network devices (including SonicWall TZ 210 firewalls).
Job Responsibilities:
● Work closely with our development team to configure and manage Puppet configuration scripts and Cacti analysis tools that interface directly with our servers running our production software.
● Secure, configure and manage our existing two-site company LAN and VPN
● Develop and implement a strategy to inventory, secure, configure and maintain a small set of employee, contractor and production computing devices (about 50-75 devices).
Job Requirements:
● Proven experience using Puppet, familiarity with Linux concepts and LAMP, and UNIX shell scripting
● Proven experience with OpenVPN, VPN, PowerDNS, DNS
● Proven experience with and understanding of key networking protocols and concepts such as TCP/IP, Ethernet, ARP, IP addressing, SSH, SSL, HTTPS, routing, switching and subnetting (and subnet masks)
● Experience creating and installing SSL certificates and administrating SSH access using private and public keys
● Experience administering SonicWall TZ firewall devices
● Experience configuring and maintaining servers using Amazon Web Services on EC2 and storage on S3
● Experience installing various software packages using rpm and other package managers
● Experience configuring and maintaining virtual machines
