Final Interviews

I would like to meet each of you at the end of the course to review briefly your work in the course, particularly on the Nachos projects. I do not intend to review the material in detail. Rather, the interview serves as a sanity check on the evaluation that I make through the submitted project work and online participation, and in particular it allows you to show me signs of good understanding that I might otherwise miss.

Conduct

The interviews should go for 1/2 hour, but I will leave ample time between them to avoid a feeling of hurry. You should take the initiative in presenting your work to me. Organize your presentation to emphasize a very small number (perhaps 1 to 3) of interesting points. If possible, focus these points on the Nachos project work, and run a very small number of demonstrations on the computer. Try to make short demonstrations that I can understand thoroughly in a brief time, rather than filling the screen with lots of stuff. I will ask questions inspired by what you show me.

If you take control of the interview in this way, you can mostly focus attention on what you do best. If you sit there like a pudding, I'll have to make up some arbitrary questions and grill you instead.

But, if there is a specific shortcoming in your submitted project work, you should prepare a brief explanation of what you wish you had done.

I will conduct final interviews from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM on Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8, 10, and 12 June. Please choose a time for your interview from the schedule below. I already communicated with the graduating seniors on my list, but if you need a convocation grade please contact me as quickly as possible. Send me e-mail with your choice, and I will enter names first come first served. If it is very difficult to come during the proposed scheduled times, you may propose an alternative, and I'll consider it.
