Advisor: Pedro Lopes

I am a PhD student at the University of Chicago studying Computer Science. I work with Prof. Pedro Lopes in the Human Computer Integration Lab and am broadly interested in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), with focus on creating new haptic devices. Specifically, I investigate unconventional approaches to engineering haptic actuators from the ground up. I build haptic devices that can overlay tactile feedback onto any number of surfaces in the environment to achieve “ubiquitous haptics.” In my recent work, I’ve aimed to apply this idea to a range of wearable actuators that provide feedback such as vibration, variable friction, & thermal rendering.
